BAKU, Azerbaijan — Indoctrinating children to believe in the man-made global warming hypothesis and teaching them to see the United Nations as the solution to that alleged problem is once again taking center stage at this year’s annual UN “climate” summit. UN leaders say global testing of children to ensure compliance is key to the agenda.
Meeting during the second week of the UN COP29 summit, the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its partners are plotting to weaponize standardized international testing schemes. The goal is simple: foist “climate change” indoctrination on children worldwide by putting it on the test.
Under the guise of “greening” education, UNESCO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is bringing education ministers and bureaucrats together to “enhance climate literacy metrics,” the radical UN agency said in its announcement. Changes to global testing are at the top of the agenda.
The infusion of “climate literacy” into schools and international tests was given added urgency by UN data showing about 70 percent of children could not properly “explain” climate change. The same UN data set showed that while almost all teachers wanted to teach climate propaganda to students, only about a third felt prepared to do so.
The roundtable meeting, set to be held on November 18, is expected to help advance various UN “climate” objectives including “financing” (taking money from taxpayers) and “country-level implantation” of global-warming policies by infusing environmentalism into all aspects of schooling.
In particular, UNESCO leaders celebrated the role of OECD’s “Programme for International Student Assessment” (PISA) — the world’s premier global standardized test — in “driving educational reforms worldwide through its competency-based frameworks and metrics.” Note that unelected international bureaucrats are openly boasting of changing education.
Essentially, what gets tested gets taught, and so the key to changing curricula is changing international tests to reflect the UN’s goals. The Bill Gates-backed federal push to impose the national Common Core scheme, which is aligned with international standards, was achieved in large part in America by controlling the testing, as Gates himself admitted.
Now, “climate” will take center stage. “PISA now aims strengthen and extend its work in this field, to encourage policy reforms that align education with sustainability goals,” UNESCO said, a reference to the UN 2030 Agenda adopted in 2015 made up of its highly controversial “Sustainable Development Goals.”
The way these unelected and unaccountable global bureaucrats intend to “align” education with the UN’s agenda is simple, and the UN admits it openly. “Building on previous rounds, this will be achieved through the development of a new global metric on climate change literacy in PISA 2029,” UNESCO said.
In addition to adding “climate literacy” schemes to global standardized tests, UNESCO said it would incorporate several “supporting indicators” based on information received from education officials. Almost 100 governments including the U.S. government participate in the PISA testing regime.
In the near future, self-styled international authorities will be able to easily see how effectively governments are indoctrinating children, all the way down to each individual. “PISA can help establish actionable targets for climate education and create tools to assess progress at both national and individual student levels,” UNESCO continued.
UNESCO is quite proud of its efforts on this front. “In addition to highlighting the important role of the Greening Education Partnership, special attention will be given to the role of international assessments targets and metrics in driving climate change education,” explains UNESCO in promotional materials for the event.
Alongside UNESCO and the OECD, Azerbaijan’s Education Ministry is playing a key role in the process. “The evaluation of environmental literacy in the 2029 PISA international assessment will accompany the participation of various countries in this initiative,” said Azeri Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev.
“After the COP29 events, it is likely that our work on green education and environmental changes in schools and universities will accelerate,” continued Amrullayev, noting that putting climate metrics in the PISA test would cause governments worldwide to step up their efforts to teach it.
Separately, the World Bank is also joining the indoctrination bandwagon. At an event headlined “Choosing Our Future: Country Lessons on Unlocking Education for Climate Action” at the COP29, the agenda-driven international bank vowed to present “cutting-edge data and real-world solutions” on how to use “education” for “climate” purposes.
According to the World Bank, its event “will showcase how countries are empowering, equipping, and skilling young people for climate mitigation and adaptation through behavior change and green skilling.” The precise nature of the “behavior change” being imposed on children without democratic accountability was not immediately clear.
Higher education is also a major target of the COP29 agenda. At an event on Monday hosted by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) titled “The Role of Higher Education in Addressing Climate Change: Leadership, Innovation, and Impact,” officials made it clear that universities would be critical to advancing the UN’s climate plans.
“Young people have a great responsibility here,” said Ebru Canan-Sokullu, associate director of the International Center for the Formation of Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) Global Network” at UNITAR. “I think that the new generation will play a crucial role in addressing climate change issues.”
The various events and schemes described here represent just the tip of the iceberg of the UN efforts to weaponize education worldwide to advance an agenda of globalism, socialism, fascism, and technocracy. As the UN has made clear in multiple international agreements, education is quite literally the lynchpin of its entire plan for the world.
Tyrants have understood for well over a century that indoctrinating the next generation is essential stealing liberty, usurping power, and maintaining control. As such, those who believe in liberty and civilization must redouble their efforts to protect children from phony “education” that would dumb them down and brainwash them. Everything is on the line.
