Major article in The Epoch Times: The trend away from the U.S. dollar in global trade and finance is accelerating rapidly as inflation persists, government debt levels explode, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) roams the planet negotiating deals in other currencies. The economic and political implications of the dollar’s possible loss of its prized status as global reserve currency are hard to overstate, according to experts. In fact, such a development—if and when it occurs—could prove catastrophic to U.S. consumers as their spending power evaporates, economists are warning amid debt-ceiling negotiations that have sent tremors around the world.
–Multiple members of Congress told me about the Biden administration’s role in the accelerating shift away from the dollar. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) pointed to the president himself. “Joe Biden’s war mongering, runaway inflation, and irresponsible spending sprees have threatened our currency’s value,” he said.
— The history behind how we got here: USD WWII, petro-dollar after Nixon – dollar’s share of global reserves just two decades ago was at about 75 percent, according to experts and analysts. Today, estimates suggest it is under 50 percent and shrinking fast. IMF chief just last week spoke of “gradual” shift away from USD as IMF seeks to drum up interest in its SDR. French, Russians, Brazil, etc all doing non-USD deal. Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations Kevin Moley told me the shift away from the U.S. dollar was “one of the most dangerous developments in the post-war era.” Spoke wit Ron Paul. He blamed Fed policies, warmongering, etc, Trend forecaster Charles Nenner said this was the end of the US empire. Treasury and IMF did not respond to requests for comment.

–WHO Warns of ‘Unusual’ Surge in Severe Myocarditis in Babies: UK authorities are investigating an “unusual” surge in severe myocarditis which has hit 15 babies in Wales and England and has killed at least one, the World Health Organization has announced. On Tuesday, the WHO issued an alert that there had been a rise in “severe myocarditis” in newborns and infants between June 2022 and March 2023 in Wales and England.
–In the first-ever report of its kind, the WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All has outlined a bold new path to reorient economies to deliver what matters – health for all. The Council, created by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in November 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and chaired by Professor Mariana Mazzucato, has spent that last two years rethinking the economy from a health for all perspective, and pushing forcefully the principle that human and planetary health must be at the heart of how we design our social, health and economic systems and policies. This will include changing the metric associated with value, having government take total control over research and development, and how to ensure a total government takeover of healthcare delivery worldwide.
–Gorsuch, who has been somewhat of a disappointment, writes stinging rebuke of Covid tyranny: called emergency measures taken during the COVID-19 crisis “the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country.” Another possible lesson, he wrote: “The concentration of power in the hands of so few may be efficient and sometimes popular. But it does not tend toward sound government.”

–IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel told Congress the Justice Department (DOJ) made the decision to purge an IRS whistleblower from the DOJ’s probe into Hunter Biden, according to a letter sent to House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO). Werfel’s letter on May 17 responded to Smith’s May 16 inquiry about concerns that a high-ranking IRS agent faced retaliation for raising red flags about alleged political interference in the tax probe of Hunter Biden. Werfel said the decision to remove a whistleblower from the tax investigation was at the DOJ’s direction, confirming what a second IRS whistleblower alleged Monday.
–Soros funds fake study claiming that criticism of Soros is antisemitism and therefore antisemitism has doubled on Twitter. The study was done by the Soros-funded Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISG), which explained: “These Tweets were about George Soros and his participation in a secret plot to variously destroy America, Christians, Western morality, or the entire world,” the report explained. “In these accounts, Soros is seen to work in concert with hidden forces, sometimes explicitly referenced as Jews, sometimes in the more coded language of ‘globalists’, ‘puppeteers’ and ‘financiers’, which we have interpreted as plausibly antisemitic.”
–Obama calls for more censorship by social media companies in speech at Stanford university. “The First Amendment is a check on the power of the state. It doesn’t apply to private companies like Facebook and Twitter,” he said, calling for more “value judgements” on content moderation and censorship on social media. “While content moderation can limit the distribution of clearly dangerous content, it doesn’t go far enough,” Obama added.
–Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared the state’s public education system to be in a state of emergency following GOP legislative gains regarding school choice and parental rights, during a Monday special address. Cooper urged residents of the state to call state lawmakers’ offices and tell them that recent school choice legislation and proposed teacher raises have the potential to “choke the life out of public education,” according to the special address. The state House passed a piece of legislation Wednesday in a 65-45 vote that would make all students eligible to have the state cover nearly half the average cost of attending a private school. –NH politician tells parent to “shut up” as parents are not a “professional” capable of having a say in the child’s education. A New Hampshire lawmaker is under fire after urging a parent supporting parental rights to “shut up” and let teachers teach. The far-left Democrat also suggested parents are not qualified to know how their own children should be raised and educated because they are not a “professional.”
