Former Trump advisor Peter Navarro blasted The Heritage Foundation’s “terrible” Project 2025 in a new interview on the Liberty Report with Liberty Sentinel CEO Alex Newman, adding a colorful repudiation to a mountain of criticism already pronounced against the controversial policy proposal.
“Project 2025 is dead on arrival,” Navarro said. “It’s a trojan horse funded by globalists that uses some legitimate Trump policies as a veneer and then throws in a bunch of weird stuff that doesn’t reflect Trump policy at all.”
For his part, the 45th president publicly distanced himself from Project 2025, stating that he was not involved in any way with it.
“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it,” Trump wrote in post on Truth Social. “I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
Project 2025’s nearly 900-page policy book, titled “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” has been decried by virtually everyone on the political Left and denounced by many on the Right as well.
Navarro — an outspoken supporter of Trump-issued tariffs and a staunch opponent of multilateral trade agreements — served in multiple roles during the Trump administration, including Director of the White House National Trade Council. He authored Chapter 26 in Mandate for Leadership, entitled “The Case for Fair Trade,” but says he was unaware that there would be a subsequent chapter on “The Case for Free Trade.”
“Way back when they first started, they came to me and said, ‘We want you to write the chapter on trade for the Project 2025 book,” Navarro said. “I get the call [later] telling me there’s another chapter now. … The Case for Free Trade. You can’t make this up. … They lied to me.”
Navarro went on to cast aspersions on The Heritage Foundation by implying the organization was beholden to its donor-base of “corporate elites, multinationals that ship jobs abroad and open the border for cheap labor.”
He contrasted Project 2025 with his new book The Maga New Deal, which he affectionately described as “the weapon we use to win the election in November.”
The Maga New Deal argues that Trump’s campaign and supporters should focus on the former president’s policy stances – including inflation, foreign policy, law and order, the justice department, “woke policies,” and the border – instead of mudslinging with Democrats and getting caught up in tangential political drama.
“We want to spend our time on what voters care most about,” he said. “If you look at polling, we win on everything. The other side, all they’ve got is: ‘Orange man bad’ and ‘abortion, abortion, abortion.’ We can’t get sucked into that.”
Navarro says he began writing Maga New Deal shortly after the “disappointing” congressional races in 2022 that failed to deliver the promised “red wave” of Republican victories.
Just two weeks ago, the former White House advisor was released from federal prison after completing a four-month sentence for not complying with a subpoena from the infamous Jan. 6 committee.
Speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on July 17, Navarro told the conservative audience: “I went to prison so you don’t have to.”
“Democrats put me in prison for defending the Constitution. If they can do that to me, they can do that to you or anyone in this country,” he added in his interview with Newman. “I would do it all again exactly the same way because what’s at stake here are higher constitutional principles. We cannot let the Democrat elites that now control that power use that power to control us.”
In May, Trump told the Wall Street Journal he would “absolutely have Peter back” in his administration if the 45th president is elected for a second term in the White House.

Your problem would be mistaking the “Israel” of the Bible, which is a people and NOT a place, (and here’s a hint – it’s not JEWS, either), with the “Israel” created in 1949 by Ashkenazi Jews like the Rothschilds.
