Illinois to Mandate “Climate” Brainwashing at School

With the United Nations and other powerful international players demanding more, government schools across Illinois will soon be required to indoctrinate every student with man-made “climate change” propaganda. But despite a brouhaha about the scheme, children across the state are already being bombarded with global-warming hysteria.

The new mandate is included in legislation that has already cleared virtually every hurdle on the route to becoming law. If signed, schools would be required to teach children that human activities are causing global warming, along with supposed “solutions” to this alleged crisis.

“[B]eginning with the 2026-2027 school year, every public school shall provide instruction on climate change, which shall include, but not be limited to, identifying the environmental and ecological impacts of climate change on individuals and communities and evaluating solutions for addressing and mitigating the impact of climate change,” the bill states.

Another key part of the scheme would have the far-left Illinois State Board of Education — an institution that has failed to teach most children in the state even how to read or write proficiently — prepare “multi-disciplinary instructional resources” and “professional development” opportunities to share with government-school educators.

Recent polls even by establishment pollsters show most American adults reject the man-made global-warming hypothesis. The increasingly discredited theory holds that human emissions of carbon dioxide, which make up a fraction of one percent of all greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, are responsible for major climactic changes.

Illinois lawmakers behind the push claimed it was needed because the education bureaucracy said so. “ISBE recognized that there is a real hole and need for professional development to help train our educators on how to teach about climate change,” argued State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, a Democrat from Naperville leading the charge.

Republicans, by contrast, pushed back. “I’d rather them reach their levels in math and reading and then we start worrying about things like this,” opined Republican State Rep. Dan Ugaste, without mentioning that the vast majority of students in the state’s government schools are not proficient in any real subject.

“Rather than the educators, the people we’re told are the professionals, decide what to teach the kids, allowing it to be up to the school boards to decide what their kids need to succeed, allowing educators to educate…we instead are interjecting a political ideology on our schools and children and asking that to be taught,” added Ugaste.  

Lawmakers pushing the bill in the Senate argued that it still gives schools leeway in how to teach. “Schools are provided the flexibility to decide how to provide this instruction whether they choose to do a separate class or implement these lessons into existing relevant classes,” said Democrat State Sen. Adriane Johnson.

The bill passed through the state House of Representatives last month by a vote of 70 to 37. More recently, the measure sailed through the Illinois Senate Education Committee on a 9 to 4 vote. If approved by the full Senate, far-left Governor J.B. Pritzker is expected to sign it into law.  

Of course, in practice, even without the statute, children across Illinois and around the world are already drowning in climate fearmongering under the guise of “education.” Almost a decade ago, the National Center for Science Education revealed that about 3 in 4 “science” teachers in American government schools already teach “climate change.”

In fact, “climate” indoctrination is a key component of the “Next Generation Science Standards” already used in Illinois and dozens of other states. Developed by the same quacks and tyrants behind Common Core, the pseudo-science standards never once mention the Scientific Method.

Instead, students subjected to the NGSS receive a constant barrage of propaganda on atheistic evolution, climate change, gender, and more — theories and hypotheses that would never stand up to scrutiny using the Scientific Method. That is almost certainly why it is not taught.   

Illinois would not be the first American state to mandate climate brainwashing in school, either. Far-left lawmakers in both Connecticut and New Jersey voted years ago to mandate global-warming instruction in a bid to enlist young children in the war against CO2, demonized as “pollution” by climate activists but known to scientists as the gas of life.       

As The Newman Report has documented from global climate summits, the UN and the World Economic Forum have long been pushing for children everywhere to indoctrinated into believing carbon dioxide is “pollution” destroying the planet. According to a Lancet study surveying 10,000 young people in 10 countries, more than 50 percent half felt “sadness, anxiety, anger, and guilt” about climate change.

Consider the situation in Italy, where “Education” Minister Lorenzo Fioramonti ordered all schools to provide at least one hour of climate propaganda weekly. “The entire ministry is being changed to make sustainability and climate the center of the education model,” he said, adding that the “environment” would be at “the core of everything we learn in school.”

Every day, government is getting bolder in openly indoctrinating children with dangerous lies. And because the man-made warming hoax is so fundamental to the establishment’s war on liberty, prosperity, and sovereignty, capturing the hearts and minds of gullible young Americans is seen as essential. Parents must protect their children before it’s too late.
